We are delighted to announce a few of the items that will be up for auction at the Who Convention 2013. All profits raised from this auction will be donated to the Teenage Cancer Trust. There are many fantastic items in store for the auction, which we will be announcing over the next months leading up to the convention, so watch this space!
Thanks again to all the sponsors who generously donated these items!
Waterstone "Lord Kitchener" model guitar
Donated by Waterstone Guitars
Signed by Simon Townshend and possibly others.
"Our dedication to mod culture continues with the Lord Kitchener guitar and bass. On Carnaby Street in the '60's there were many fashion shops including John Stephen, Kleptomania, Mates, Ravel and I Was Lord Kitchener's Valet. The latter promoted antique military uniforms as fashion items. Peter Blake, the artist who designed the Sgt. Pepper's album cover, said that he and Paul McCartney got the idea for the record sleeve while they were walking together past the shop. Jimi Hendrix also bought his clothes there. Sounds like a good name for a guitar and bass to us. The guitar is a neck through body construction with 2 humbuckers and a 23 3/4" scale."

Custom built 1966 Slab Precision bass
Donated by Gareth Ishmael of Slab66
"This bass is awesome! Thundering, bone-crushing lows and razor edged zinging highs. It sounds even more like John's bass than John's bass. Pure Live at Leeds or Marquee period. I urge anyone who wants "That sound" to contact Gareth at Slab 66. This is the one!" Craig Addecott (Who's Next)
